New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE

Back in 1994, I bought a brand new Toyota Camry. It drove like an underpowered Mercedes with an advanced sixteen valve, four-cylinder engine. Unbelievably quiet, refined, and durable beyond compare. The Camry offered a level of quality back then that most other automakers couldn’t match at even twice the price.
This good news spread throughout the land. Within eight years, everyone in my family along with millions of other new car buyers had a Camry or a Lexus ES300 in their garage. By 2002, Toyota had made the Toyota Camry a gold standard in the American marketplace and annually decimated the rest of best selling car rankings. The Camry was dominant, price aggressive, ubiquitous, and even hated.
New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE

Hated it was first and most of all by those enthusiasts who always lust for a mainstream car that can offer more thrill. If your desires were more on the pistachio and less on the vanilla side of things, the Camry was not for you. As Jim Press, when he still was at Toyota, used to say: “We make the best vanilla there is.”
Then there was a mainstream backlash. De-contenting and quality related recall issues gave a number of competitors an opportunity to convert the Camry faithful. Not to mention those who had yet joined the Camry fold.
Toyota had already been losing the conquest of non-Toyota owners due to the outgoing generation’s staid styling and it’s near-SUV like massiveness. The recent recalls and quality issues did hurt. Since 2008 Camry sales have collapsed while Fusion, Sonata and Altima have all gained ground.
The Toyota Camry has a tough road ahead. Can this brand new 2012 Toyota Camry LE carry on a once proud tradition of outclassing the competition? Or is it simply just one of the herd? The truth is…
Toyota is no longer in a dominant position. The new Camry offers a lot of virtues that the old model could not satisfy. It still does not excite.
New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE

The exterior has become trim and handsome in a way that is eerily reminiscent of the 2002 – 2006 generation. The front offers a slightly sporting pretension very much in line with today’s combination of sharp creases and low cowls. Side profile is contemporary without being bloated. The rear has removed the bloat, and to be frank… it’s a nice mainstream design. Nobody will reject the Camry for it’s good looks.
New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE

When you get into the driver’s seat, you have all the features of a nice vehicle circa 2011. The seats have good side bolsters. Toyota’s new Entune multimedia system allows you to perform a slew of modern commands and conveniences. From getting movie tickets. To getting directions and restaurant reservations. To letting you use your cell phone in a hands off by integrating your phone’s features and contacts with those of the Entune’s wireless system. Toyota will even upgrade this system as new features become available… and the system’s ease of use is commendable. Nobody will reject the Camry for it’s multimedia features.
New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE

The interior offers many of the elements of Toyota’s better selling models. The thin stitching of the dashboard is carried forward from the Lexus CT200h while many of the controls seem to be derivative of other upscale models like the RX and Highlander. The steering wheel is nice, thick, and has a quality feel to it. To be frank, the only weaknesses in the interior are the wafer thin wood and aluminum accents. Along with the cheap plastic buttons that surround the standard sound system controls and optional Entune system. A weakness that is shared with every one of the Camry’s modern day competitors. Nobody will reject the Camry for it’s interior quality. It leads the midsized segment.
The Toyota Camry will hold the line well at $22,500 for the LE version which is $200 cheaper than the outgoing model. The 2.5 iter 4-cylinder engine offers 178 horsepower along with a class matching 28 combined mpg (26 city / 35 highway). 10 airbags, a long list of vehicle safety control systems, and an anticipated 5 star NCAP and IIHS safety rating will likely make the Camry LE a class leader. Nobody will reject the Camry based on the specs.
New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE

The handling and suspension tuning is also at the head of the pack. The outgoing model didn’t do Toyota any favors when it came to attracting buyers seeking some sport in their drive. The new model is a tour de force. There is a precision in handling, and a flatness in the cornering, that is as unexpected as it is alluring. If Toyota were the only one offering this level of performance in today’s marketplace, it would be 1994 all over again (albeit a 1994 Camry SE). Nobody will reject the Camry based on how it drives. But then again…
The Camry has a lot of competition: Altima, Fusion, Optima and Sonata, just to name a few. The Altima 2.5 and Fusion SE offer comparable specs to the Camry LE without the reputation baggage of being the car of choice for older folks.
New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE
Are they better cars? Time will tell. But even with the Camry offering better fuel economy and safety than either Ford or Nissan models, and comparable real world handling, the Fusion and Altima will continue to be perceived as more sporty and youthful than the Camry. Still, some people might reject the Camry for it’s reputation as an ‘older persons’ car. Even if the content measures up.
The Optima and Sonata have the added advantage of price and warranty. The Sonata and Optima are approximately $1800 cheaper if you look headlong into the MSRP. When you start looking at features and advantages, the deficit narrows considerably. But in this marketplace the price advantage is partially one of perception. A car that seems to be the better deal may be chosen over the better car.
Then there is the warranty. Toyota only subtly acknowledged the recent recall issues during the press event. Paying stronger attention to the vast reduction in inventory from 250,000 cars to 113,000 due to the tsunami. That is not what shrank Camry’s marketshare from 18.8 percent in 2009 to 13.8 percent today.
The reality is that a 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty offers a lot of peace of mind for folks who are looking beyond the Camry. The Hyundai/Kia models do turn off some buyers who don’t like the more aero and European look. On the other hand, the design has been a net plus with both vehicles now selling at their manufacturing capacity in a depressed market. Still, some people might reject the Camry for other cars offering a more European design and a longer warranty.
Overall, I believe the Camry LE will lose some folks who want the ‘sporty’ car along with all the usual virtues of a class leading midsized sedan (high content, safety, and reliability). It will inevitable lose sales to the Hyundai/Kia juggernaut that now offers a better warranty and a cheaper price. Who knows? It may even lose sales to the next gen Malibu? Or the Passat which offers an authentic European reputation wrapped up in an all-American design?
New Car Round-Robin: 2012 Toyota Camry LE

The Camry will not lose any sales to any of these current competitors in the one metric which matters most. Is this Camry the better car? Time will tell on the long-term measure of durability and owner satisfaction. But when you look at the overall fuel economy, safety, reliability, and comfort of the Camry, the answer will likely be an emphatic yes.
The 2012 Camry LE should inevitably overcome the baggage of the recent past. It’s a great car that doesn’t turn off most of the mainstream buyers who seek ownership contentment for the next 10+ years. It’s a bullseye…. among a midsized segment that seems to attract more bullseyes than ever.

2009 Audi A5

Audi has been making a concerted effort in recent years to broaden its product line. One of its newest products are medium-sized A5 Coupe. Inspired by its stunning 2003 Nuvolari grand touring concept, the A5 is a little less practical but very sexy two-door alternative to the mainstream luxury sports sedan. It boasts standard V6 power, all-wheel drive, a refined interior and lots of standard or optional luxury features.

Those shopping for a sport-oriented luxury coupe would be wise to look at the Audi A5. Its combination of striking good looks, all-wheel drive and everyday practice is hard to ignore.

Audi A5 was introduced for the 2008 model year. Mechanically, it is in connection with the latest generation A4 sedan. Motivation is powered by a 3.2-liter direct injected V6 that puts out 265 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque. Power is directed through either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. (The S5 Coupe is similar, but comes with a sturdy V8.)

2009 Audi A5

An important advantage for them, as they are subject to slippery weather is A5's Quattro all-wheel drive, a feature not available from this Audi's peers. With a 40/60-percent front-to-rear power split, the Quattro system gives a rear-wheel car's crisp handling dynamics with the extra grip in all-wheel drive.

Those who appreciate sophisticated design as much as performance will feel right at home in the Audi A5. This is arguably one of the best long-term coupe on the market. The sporty Silhouette, a characteristic Audi-piece grille and shapely tail end team up to create an exceptionally attractive appearance.

The same is true of the A5's beautiful four-place cabin. The interior materials are first rate, and A5 multi-adjustable front seats offer daylong touring comfort with an appropriate degree of support during spirited motoring. Expanding on the limited capacity of the company's TT roadster, the rear seat area provides space for two extra passengers, although more individuals can expect a fairly tight fit. The generous trunk offers more than 16 Cubic of space, and rear Flips down to allow for more freight.

The Audi A5 sized luxury sports coupe is offered in a single trim level, equipped with standard features such as automatic tri-zone climate control, a 10-speaker audio system and fine custom leather and wood trim. Popular options include Bi-Xenon headlamps, park assist with a rearview camera, a navigation system, a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system and an S line package offers sports suspension with 19-inch alloy wheels, unique front and rear fascia, sport seats and Aluminum interior accents.

As smart as it is, the Audi A5 faces some tough competition from rivals such as BMW's 3 Series Coupe, Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class and Infiniti G37. All are excellent choices, but customers who desire the Coupe, which offers a pleasant blend of style, performance and all-wheel-drive security would do well to look at A5.

Acura TL Review

2008 Acura TL Sedan

The Acura TL is a medium-sized, entry-level luxury sedan, and it is currently Acura's best selling model. Although TL typically does not provide the excitement or the prestige of competing European sports sedan, it counters with exceptional value and above average durability and reliability.

Consumers are interested in buying the Acura TL should be aware that there are three generations of the car. The current generation is the sportiest and most desirable because of his chiseled exterior styling, firm suspension tuning, powerful V6 and optional six-speed manual transmission. Almost all of TL's luxury features come standard, including a surround-sound audio system. Its interior is remarkable for its quality, design and materials.

Like most sports sedan, the TL is very usable on a daily basis and can perform well in almost any role. According to our editors, the current TL is "a well built, high performance, feature-laden entry-level luxury sports sedan, which should please most consumers shopping in this market."

These attributes also apply to the earlier years of the third generation Acura TL, which covers 2004-2006 models. Consumers are interested in a used or certified pre-owned TL would do well to look after these years. There is not much difference between them in terms of features or hardware. Please note that Acura revised V6's horsepower rating downward starting in 2006. But this review was a regulatory issue, and does not reflect a change in acceleration capability.

Acura TL Review

According to Acura owners who have posted comments to Edmunds.com, the Acura TL is a "fantastic car" that yarns recognition of its "overall combination of performance, comfort, quality and technology." Owners will take his ride comfortable yet sporty, "and say that with an" amazing "home stereo system and a long list of standard features - including satellite radio and Bluetooth handsfree phone compatibility - the" fun factor in this car is quite unique. " Others praise the car's interior styling and its "fantastic" navigation system - "I'm in love with the navigation system. I have found my soul mate." But some owners want sedan was available in a wider range of colors, others pine for "better seating comfort."

The second generation Acura TL was built from 1999 to 2003. Although not as exciting as the current model, our editors gave their elders very positive reviews during its course. Improvements were made throughout this period, and the car had a number of SL first, including Honda's VTEC variable valve timing and a GPS navigation option. The powerful Type-S version, which debuted in 2002, should strongly consider buyers interested in increased efficiency. Regardless of specific trim level, just about any use second-generation model will work well.

The original Acura TL debuted in 1996 as a replacement for the popular Acura Vigor. Two versions were offered: a 2.5 with a 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine and a 3.2 with a 3.2-liter V6. The 2.5 and 3.2 TL models were available during the first generation's run, which lasted largely unchanged, although 1998. As there is now a small price difference between the two, we suggest that consumers are interested in a first-generation TL used to go to the more powerful 3.2.

Cadillac XLR-V Review

There are a few lucky car shoppers out there who can afford the very best the automotive world has to offer. For those hoping to go really fast and be coddled while doing it, Cadillac created the XLR-V convertible. The V at the end of the car's moniker indicates that it's a performance variant of Cadillac's XLR, but it could easily stand for viciously quick and very luxurious.

2008 Cadillac XLR-V Base Convertible

Viciously quick comes courtesy of this Cadillac's supercharged V8, which will send you hurtling from zero to 60 in less than 5 seconds. You won't find any assembly lines at the Wixom, Michigan, facility in which the high-performance engine is made. Taking a cue from European ultraluxury manufacturers, Cadillac has given each V8 a personal touch, with each being built from start to finish by a single craftsman. Very luxurious is the end result of the wealth of standard features offered by the Cadillac XLR-V roadster. Satellite radio, keyless ignition and a voice-activated navigation system are all part of the lineup.

The XLR-V's features list brims with opulence, but unfortunately, the same can't be said for its cabin. Abundant wood and metallic accents are a good start, but aesthetics ultimately miss the mark, thanks to generic-looking switchgear and unspectacular leather. For a car that costs about $100K, this is a profound disappointment. Cabin dimensions in this convertible are also tight, resulting in a cramped environment for taller drivers. Another shortcoming is the car's lack of cargo room.

It should also be said that while the Cadillac XLR-V offers a memorable and engaging ride, you'll find more refined driving dynamics in its European competition. Still, for those seeking a less common American alternative, this singular Caddy could prove to be a pleasing choice.

Current Cadillac XLR-V

Designed to facilitate wind-tousled tresses and sun-kissed cheeks, the Cadillac XLR-V is available only as a two-seat convertible with a retractable hardtop. Aside from its high-performance innards, this V is distinguished from its less spirited sibling by virtue of styling cues like a unique front grille and a sculpted hood designed to accommodate the V8's supercharger.

Only one trim is available, but -- as befits the car's nearly six-figure price tag -- it's fully loaded. Perks like Bluetooth phone connectivity, heated leather seats and adaptive cruise control (which automatically maintains a preset distance between the roadster and the car ahead of it) are all standard. The XLR-V's power-retractable hardtop can go from closed to open (and vice-versa) in about 30 seconds.

Pop this Caddy's rather menacing hood and you'll find a supercharged 4.4-liter V8 with the goods to kick out 443 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque. A broad torque band keeps this might readily accessible; the engine is able to deliver 90 percent of peak torque between 2,200 and 6,000 rpm. A six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift capability directs power to the rear wheels.

The Cadillac XLR-V's cabin is attractive, but attractive simply isn't good enough for a car in this price range. Aluminum accents add a nice gleam to the steering wheel and instrument panel, and there are pleasing amounts of burnished exotic wood in evidence -- you'll find it on the shifter knob, steering wheel and parts of the door and center console. But compared to what's available from other cars populating this rarefied bracket, the overall look and feel of the Cadillac's interior is a little disappointing. There's also not a whole lot of room available. The vertically gifted will find getting comfortable in the driver seat a challenge, and tight cargo room limits versatility.

Cadillac XLR-V Review

Once settled, however, drivers will find themselves swept away on a wave of raw power. The car is responsive and quick, eager to leap to attention at the slightest tap of the throttle. Its Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension (which automatically adjusts the suspension to reflect driving conditions) is tuned to be sportier than that of the XLR, but thanks to careful attention paid to handling dynamics, the car's ride is never abusive. The only real detracting attribute is the car's steering, which we have found to be overly heavy.

Kia Reunites Joyride Characters for 2012 Sorento Ad (w/VIDEO)

Kia Reunites Joyride Characters for 2012 Sorento Ad (w/VIDEO)Though not as successful as their music-loving hamster counterparts, Kia’s oddball cast of life-size children's characters from last year’s Joyride commercials are back for a new advertising campaign.

Muno, Sock Monkey, MR. X, the vintage robot and teddy bear will star in two new 30-second TV spots for the 2012 Sorento CUV. As with the original campaign, "Joyride 2" was created by David&Goliath, KMA's advertising agency of choice. The first commercial begins airing today and will be followed up by the second spot next month.

"The Sorento has been Kia's best-selling vehicle in the U.S. every month since arriving in showrooms in January 2010 thanks in large part to the immense popularity of the original 'Joyride Dream' campaign," said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing & communications, KMA.

"In just its second model year, the 2012 Sorento delivers significant performance and efficiency improvements as well as new convenience features that meet the ever-changing needs of today's consumers, and bringing back the popular 'Joyride' crew allows us to continue our momentum in a fun and entertaining way," Sprague concluded.

2009 Audi S8

Audi S8 is the German auto maker's flagship performance sedan. Debuting at the beginning of the new millennium, was the third vehicle for the North American market to sustain an "S" badge. Used to produce Audi's engineering achievements, S-and RS-badged vehicles compete directly against other automakers performance models from divisions like BMW's M and Mercedes-Benz's AMG. As a high-luxury, high performance and high-technology platform, the S8 is the standard bearer of Audi's arsenal.

There are two generations of the Audi S8 and each has been based on the A8 luxury sedan from the same period. Based on the A8's lightweight aluminum-frame chassis, the S8 adds a more powerful engine, a sport-tuned suspension, more powerful brakes and a slightly more aggressive look. Despite being Audi's largest sedan, a combination of a relatively light curb weight, muscular and tenacious grip of the car's standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system makes it surprisingly quick and smooth. Audi's Quattro system is a key advantage over S8's competitors by providing more traction, especially in the weather.

Audi has ensured that luxury amenities were not sacrificed in favor of direct speed. A premium leather-trimmed interior, real wood accents and exemplary fit and finish complement both S8 models, which makes a whole gang of safety devices. If there is a mistake to Audi S8, it is certain that it does not quite match the performance potential of some competitive sports sedan. Our editors have described it as an impressive luxury sedan first and a performance sedan second. But for those who need AWD security or simply wishing a speedy, stealthy and relatively rare luxury sedan, either S8 generation will do nicely.

2009 Audi S8

Current Audi S8

Returns to LINEUP for 2007 after a three-year break, the latest Audi S8 is based on second-GEN A8. Its most talked-about feature is its engine. Audi's engineers took advantage of its parent company Volkswagen's ownership of Lamborghini and snagged the Lamborghini Gallardo's 40-valve V10 engine. Audi increased displacement to 5.2 liters and added FSI petrol direct injection to optimize the delivery. The result is an operatic 450 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. All this sonorous power is pushed through a six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, so you can happily keep my fingers tapping the steering wheel paddle shifters. The sound of the engine wailing through four exhaust pipes are so sweet, you can ask premium audio system to take five.

The current Audi S8 delivers performance products, while rewarding the driver with a rich experience filled with techno-gadgetry. It is easy to learn Multi Media Interface with Bluetooth navigation, a 350-watt, 12-speaker Bose audio system with a glovebox CD changer, power lifting just outside mirrors with tilt-in-reverse and everything is wrapped in sumptuous leather and wood trim. A stiffer version of the standard A8's fully independent adaptive air suspension works in the unit with 20-inch wheels, performance tires and speed-dependent steering to provide exceptional handling in both high and low speed maneuvers.

Overall, the combination of luxury, performance and technology add up to an impressive package. At the same time, Audi has kept the styling upgrades tasteful as S8 not immediately scream "performance model" as some competitors do. Only in terms of maximum performance potential is Audi's finest bit of a letdown.

Former Audi S8 models

When it debuted for the 2001 model year, the first Audi S8 came with a 4.2-liter V8 making 360 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The aluminum frame and body are lowered, stiffer suspension performed well in its 18-inch wheels. The fit and finish besteden something else in its class. It even won a star packed role in a memorable car chase in Ronin movie directed by John Frankenheim. But S8 never seemed to be named Cachet of its impressive rivals.

Audi continued to improve the car by small increments over the next two years. It offered new features such as a tire-pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking assist and a navigation system. To increase the feeling of exclusivity, Audi released a limited edition color combinations like a silver exterior with a red interior, a Ming Blue exterior with a platinum interior and a black exterior with a caramel interior. As a used model, the original S8 still gives serious performance dynamics, which can be enjoyed from the most beautiful of environments.

Ford Shelby GT500 Review

If you're a driving enthusiast, you owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Ford Mustang. Once that pony car hit the market in 1964, affordable and stylish performance was finally in reach for the average American. Even though early versions weren't exceptionally fast, it didn't take long for Ford to pump the car up with some real muscle. Shortly after the first 'Stang hit the streets, Ford teamed up with racing legend Carroll Shelby to produce the high-performance GT350. Two years later, the fierce Ford Shelby GT500 showed up, equipped with a 428-cubic-inch big-block V8.

Ford Shelby GT500 Review

2008 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible

Only a few thousand of the original Ford Shelby GT500s were built from 1965-'70, and they've remained very popular with Mustang enthusiasts and collectors. (Although it was disfigured with a modern body kit, one of the more visible vintage GT500s was the silver replica Nicolas Cage drove in the remake of Gone in Sixty Seconds.) Hoping to build on this heritage, Ford recently introduced a new Shelby GT500. It's based on the ninth-generation Mustang and is the most capable production version ever built.

Current Ford Shelby GT500

The new Ford Shelby GT500 debuted for the 2007 model year. Under its hood is a supercharged 5.4-liter, iron block, aluminum-head V8 that makes 500 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 480 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. A Tremec six-speed manual gearbox routes all that through a limited-slip solid rear axle. No automatic transmission is available. At the test track, we recorded a 4.6-second 0-60 run and a quarter-mile time of just 12.8 seconds.

If there's a downside to this drivetrain, it's poundage. The Ford Shelby GT500 weighs close to 2 tons, which is about 400 pounds more than a Mustang GT. Much of that bulk comes from the drivetrain. This also means the weight gain is largely on the front half of the car, suggesting front-end flabbiness compared to the base Mustang's nimble character. In testing, however, we've found that Ford's engineers have done a good job of keeping the car reasonably nimble. Changes to the GT500 include a stiffened suspension and chassis, as well as more powerful brakes.

There's one trim level only, but coupe and convertible bodies are offered. Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels with Goodyear F1 tires, a domed hood with functional heat extractors, a front air splitter and a ducktail-style rear spoiler. 2009 Dodge Viper

Introduction

When it comes to super cars, European automakers typically represents refinement, couture style and technological development, to the point of sterility. Here in the States, super cars is relatively raw, visceral and robust to the point of brutality. We are the ankle to their scalpel, that bucking Bronco to show their horse and Bourne for their Bond. For better or worse, this is how we roll.

2009 Dodge Viper car

The current third-generation Viper maintains tension and soul in 1989, Carroll Shelby-inspired concept, with the required low-slung body, long hood houses a massive V10, comically wide tires and gruff side exhaust pipes. The Dodge Viper not ask for permission and makes no excuses. Despite the technological advances in the last two decades, the Viper has just enough safety to make it legal to delegate the remaining responsibilities to the hands and feet of the driver. If efficiency is in itself not enough to cause palpitations, believes that traction and stability control are not available, and circumstances can go from exhilarating to terrifying in short order.

It is this unfiltered, uncomplicated character, which makes the Viper so attractive to enthusiasts, hearkening back to epochs when the driver was heroic, rugged and based on the seats of their pants instead of electronic aids. For those seeking more comfort, refinement and everyday driving manners, there is always the Corvette Z06, various European offerings such as the Audi R8 and Porsche 911, and even Nissan's new GT-R. But the 2009 Dodge Viper best the Z06 in almost every relevant performance metric and is significantly cheaper than something similar from the old world. Ultimately it comes down to what you're willing to compromise - performance or finesse.

Body style, trim levels, and Options

2009 Dodge Viper SRT-10 is offered as either a two-seat coupe or a soft-top roadster. For the standard price of admission, you get huge forged-aluminum wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires measure 275/35R18 front and 345/30R19 in back. Inside, the Viper comes with race-inspired seats, power-adjustable pedals, full power accessories, a tilting steering wheel, keyless entry and an in-dash six-disc CD changer mated to a seven-speaker, 300-watt audio system. Since the Viper is more show than go, cosmetics and convenience options are scarce. Racing stripes, paint and wheel options, instrument-panel trim, a two-tone interior, navigation and satellite radio are all on offer.

The high performance-enhancing opportunity Viper is American Club Racer (ACR) package, which is only available for the Coupe variant. Although street legal, ACR is clearly intended for track use. The package adds carbon fiber aerodynamic devices, including a massive wing mounted high above the tail, a front splitter, Fender-mounted dive planes and further body treatments. All this Aero work resulting in a claimed 1000 pounds of down force at 150 km / h. Lighter wheels shodě with stickier tires (both slightly wider in front), lighter brake rotors, a stiffer suspension with 14-way adjustable shocks and deleted foglamps round of the ACR package. Ultimately, the ACR weighs in 46 pounds lighter than the standard Coupe.

In the spirit of "you can never go too far," ACR package can be further strengthened with the hard core of the package. In general, expect an extra performance to cost more, but the hard core option is free - primarily because the package eliminates opportunities that are not trail-essential. Delete Inger includes radio, speakers, amplifier, trunk upholstery, hood pad and tire inflation. Weight savings amount to an additional 42 pounds - not a lot, but every ounces counts on the track.

Power Trains and Performance

During the Viper's Louverne cap is an imposing 8.4-liter V10 engine that thunder out 600 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. It is enough to propel the sleek snake from zero to 60 km / h in 3.7 seconds. Quarter-mile is a memory in a simple 11.8 seconds. Top speed is a claimed 200 mph. All this merriment is funneled to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, which is the only transmission available.

Fuel economy - though obviously a reflection of exotic sports - registers an EPA-rated city / country of 13/22 mpg and 16 mpg in combined driving.

Security

The best security for the 2009 Dodge Viper is not included in the car. It is a driver with great skill, preferably with a racing pedigree. What is included, however, are anti-lock brakes with huge 14-inch rotors that can stop the Viper from 60 km / h on an eye-bulging 104 feet. Thus, absent the side airbags, traction and stability control - and it makes skills in the aforementioned driver even more critical

Interior design and special features

Getting may also be a challenge. Because of the trademark side exhaust, since thresholds can get hot enough to burn your calves, and more drivers will find that the little door opening inhibit entry and exit.

The overall design of the Viper's interior is a little sad, but it can be livened up a bit with the optional two-tone color schemes and dash panel inserts. The black-on-white-faced gauges are easy to read and well equipped. The large tachometer is mounted centrally in the instrument pod, next to 220-mph speedometer, max. Amid console can accommodate additional gauges, audio system with six-CD changer, climate and a lush red engine start button to fire up the V10.

Driving Impressions

2009 Dodge Viper is raw, raw, loud and unrefined compared with other sports, and therein lies much of its appeal. As with previous generations, when you pin the gas pedal, you will be attached to the backs. Jam on the brakes, and you can feel your internal organs Slam against your rib cage. Novices can appreciate the Viper's straight-line power and anger, but only advanced drivers should examine its cornering limits.

The control is precise and offers enough feedback to throw the Viper deep into turns, while judicious amount of throttle from a deft right foot can pass his nose with smart-bomb accuracy. But the sniper-like accuracy can be achieved with a sharper, brighter artists like Z06 or range-topping Porsche. Get it right in a Viper and the payoff is immediate and plentiful. Get it wrong and you will be dependent on every car-control skills you've ever learned. Barring shocks or damage, either outcome is the game entertaining and rewarding.

Audi A4 New Images Reviews

The Audi A4 is a compact executive car produced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG since late 1994. The initial generation A4 succeeded the four previous generations of the Audi 80. And just like its Audi 80 predecessor, the Audi A4 automobile layout consists of a longitudinally orientated engine at the front, with transaxle-type transmissions mounted immediately to the rear of the engine, again, orientated longitudinally. Drive output is transmitted to either the front wheels, or on some models, utilising Audi's 'trademark' quattro permanent four-wheel drive system via a Torsen centre differential.

Since its inception, the Audi A4 has been available in four generations, based on the Volkswagen Group 'B' series of automobile platforms - usually known by the following codes - the initial B5, the subsequent B6 and B7, and the current B8.

Of the main body styles, it is (and always has been) available as a saloon/sedan variant, and an "Avant", which is Audi's name for an estate/wagon. The second (B6) and third generations (B7) of the A4 also had a Cabriolet version, but the Cabriolet was not retained for the current fourth generation (B8), due to the introduction of the Cabriolet version of the related Audi A5 and S5 coupés.

Additionally, higher performance versions directly related to the A4 include the Audi S4, and the limited availability quattro GmbH-developed very high performance Audi RS4.
